The meeting of Ambassador Andranik Hovhannisyan with Bishar Hussein, Director General of the Universal Postal Union (UPU)

Ambassador Andranik Hovhannisyan had a meeting today in Bern with Bishar Hussein, Director General of the Universal Postal Union (UPU). The interlocutors expressed satisfaction with Armenia’s productive cooperation within the framework of UPU and stressed the readiness to further strengthen it.

Ambassador A․ Hovhannisyan referred to the anti-Armenian racist stamp issued by Azerbaijan under the guise of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and stressed that it contradicts the relevant provisions of the Union Convention and the Code of Conduct. Ambassador Hovhannisyan briefed Director General Hussein on the Nagorno Karabakh war, its consequences, and the gross violations of human rights and international humanitarian law committed by Azerbaijan. In this regard, he underlined that the mentioned stamp is only one of the examples of widespread hate speech, xenophobia, and racist policies adhered by Azerbaijan.

The interlocutors agreed to continue the dialogue.
