The objective of Azerbaijan is to conquer Nagorno-Karabakh and to ethnically cleanse it. The president of Azerbaijan does not make a secret out of that, and he said that they are determined to go till the end until they will have entire Nagorno-Karabakh. In this situation, of course, Armenian defense army of Nagorno-Karabakh will not retreat because that will mean the total annihilation of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh. This is something that the defense forces of Nagorno-Karabakh cannot allow to happen, and they have all the determination to fight and to defend their homeland. This is a self-defense that Nagorno-Karabakh army now is exercising there. They are fighting for their own homes, their own ancestral homeland where they have lived for many centuries, which is giving them more power, more force to defend against those superior forces of Turkey, Azerbaijan and terrorists combined together.

For many years there have been very serious efforts by the Co-chairs of OSCE Minsk Group to come to a political settlement. Unfortunately, this time it is the heavy involvement of Turkey that changes the situation. President Erdogan has in his mind the creation of a new Ottoman-like legacy for Turkey. He recently made a reference to that, saying that they are going to the Caucasus to finish the mission that their grandfathers carried out there. He referred to Armenians as “leftovers of the sword.” This is the commonly used insult in Turkey which refers to the survivors of the Armenian Genocide. All the images of the Armenian Genocide have revived in the memory of the Armenian people. The Nagorno-Karabakh defense army is fighting to stop another genocide against Armenians.

As a diplomat, I think that there is always a space for talks. The Prime Minister of Armenia has made it clear on numerous occasions that the conflict should be solved exclusively by peaceful means and on mutual compromises. He said this before the war, as well as during the war many times. Unfortunately, again referring to president of Azerbaijan I would like to quote him as he said that “Azerbaijan is fed up with the negotiations and Azerbaijan is going to advance until the end”. It is not only Azerbaijan which is fighting in Nagorno Karabakh. In our opinion, Azerbaijan has given up a part of its sovereignty to Turkey, and now President Erdogan somehow dictates Azerbaijan what to do. Also, the situation is exacerbated by the presence of foreign terrorist fighters there. They are trained to kill people in Syria, to commit mass atrocities, and they are paid for that. We do not know how Azerbaijan is going to treat these terrorists once there will be a possibility to sit at the negotiating table and to talk.

We are always ready for talks and we are always looking forward to a negotiated solution with participation of all sides, including the Nagorno Karabakh authorities.

L'obiettivo del Azerbaijan e di conquistare il Nagorno Karabakh e di praticare una pulizia etnica, per fino il Presidente del Azerbaijan non lo a nascoste d'affermato che andrà fine in fondo per avere il controllo sul interno Nagorno Karabakh. In questa situazione e chiaro che le Forze di Difesa del Nagorno Karabakh non se ritireranno perche questo significherebbe l' annientamento totale della sua popolazione. E questo le Forze di Difesa non lo permetteranno. Qui si tratta di difendere la propria Patria, si tratta di un autodifesa. Stanno difendendo le loro case, la terra dove vivono da centinaia di anni. Questo multiplica la loro determinazione nei confronti delle forze superiori, combinate di Turchia, Azerbaijan e terroristi.

Per molti anni i paesi del gruppo di Minsk hanno cercato di trovare una soluzione negoziata a conflitto, ma il pesante coinvolgimento della Turchia ha cambiato le cose. Il Presidente Erdogan vorrebbe reconstruire l'Impero Ottomano et quindi sta cercando di conquistare dei territori. Recentemente ha affermato: "Andiamo nel Caucaso per finire la Missione iniziata dai nostri nonni!". Fa riferimento a coloro che in turco vengono ocunemente in modo spregiativo definiti "Gli avanzi di spada," ciò è i sopravvissuti al Genocidio Armeno. Di questi tempi tute le immagine del Genocidio stanno riaffiorando nella mente degli armeni e quindi le Forze di difesa del Nagorno Karabakh stanno combattendo per evitare un secondo Genocidio nei confronti degli armeni.

Certo, come diplomatico penso che vi sia sempre spazio per dei colloqui. Il Primo Ministro Armeno a affermato a più riprese che il conflitto deve essere risolto in modo pacifico. Purtroppo il Presidente del Azerbaijan ha fermato e lo cito: "l'Azerbaijan e stufo di negoziati e andrà fine in fondo". A nostro avviso qui non si tratta più soltanto del Azerbaijan, ma anche di Turchia e di mercenari terroristi inviati da Baku. Purtroppo, secondo noi l'Azerbaijan a consegnato parte della propria sovranità a la Turchia e d'ora il Presidente Erdogan in un certo qual modo detta a l'Azerbaijan ciò che deva fare. La situazione anche esacerbata dalla presenza di terroristi mercenari, provenienti della Syria, vienno commesso atrocità di massa e sono pagati per questo. Quindi non sappiamo quale sarà la posizione del Azerbaijan nel loro confronti se dovessimo sederci al tavolo delle trattative.

Noi siamo sempre pronti per una soluzione negoziata che coinvolga tutte le parti comprese gli autorità del Nagorno Karabakh.
