Armenia in Geneva Book and Press Fair 2016

01 May, 2016

From April 27 to May 1, with the efforts of the “Hagop Topalian” Armenian foundation, Armenia took part in the annual Geneva Book and Press Fair.

Numerous publications of recent years in Armenian and foreign languages have been exhibited in the Armenian stand. During the five days of the Fair, along with the exhibition of books, several lectures had been organized on the topics of Armenian history, culture, art and tourism, as well as on Armenian Genocide and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Discussions were held on such topics as “The problematic essence of negationism and its consequences in democratic societies”, “The systematic violence of the Turkish state”, “Karabakh: International silence”, with the participation of Diaspora and foreign historians, journalists and lecturers.

On the last day of the fair, the launching ceremony of the book ("Arménie, l'âme d'un peuple") by Henry Cuny, former French Ambassador to Armenia, was organized in the Armenian stand in the presence of the author.

The exhibitions in the Armenian corner were accompanied by Armenian national bard songs performed by “Nor Ashugh” ensemble.

The Geneva Book and Press Fair, established in 1986, is by its size the 2nd French-speaking fair worldwide and the biggest in Switzerland. Taking place each year during five days at the end of April/beginning of May at Palexpo, it welcomes around 100'000 visitors, 820 publishers, over 1'000 speakers, over 800 authors. In 2011 Armenia was the guest of honor of the Fair.
