On 5 March 2024, H.E. Mr. Andranik Hovhannisyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Swiss Confederation addressed the students at the University of Geneva on the topic of the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The lecture was held within the framework of the "Global Governance: The Art and Science of Negotiations" seminar jointly organized by the University of Geneva, Yerevan State University and Zurich Federal Institute of Technology. Micheline Calmy-Rey, the former President and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland chairs the Program. The relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been selected as a case study for the 2024 academic year.

Ambassador Andranik Hovhannisyan presented the historical and cultural overview of Armenia. He introduced students with the roots causes of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, its major developments, main aspects of the negotiation process, recent ethnic cleansing and the violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law committed by Azerbaijan. Ambassador briefed on the state of affairs between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and he highlighted the priorities of Armenia in the current phase of negotiations, including on the peace treaty and the “Crossroads for Peace” initiative.  Ambassador Hovhannisyan presented also the achievements of Armenia in democracy building and sustainable development. The lecture was followed by the lively Q&A session.
