YEREVAN. – On the margins of her visit to Switzerland, Anna Hakobyan, the spouse of Armenia’s Prime Minister as well as chair of the boards of trustees of the My Step and City of Smile charitable foundations, on Friday visited the École hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) hospitality business school. At this specialized learning institution, Hakobyan met with André Mack, Director at EHL Advisory Services, and Ray Iunius, Director of Business Development at EHL Advisory Services, Anna Hakobyan’s press service informed. The interlocutors exchanged views on tourism and the service sector, Switzerland’s achievements in this domain, and opportunities for respective cooperation with Armenia.

07.10.2019 • President Sarkissian will chair the UNCTAD Panel of Eminent Persons: President Sarkissian participated in Geneva at the Panel’s deliberations

President Armen Sarkissian, who is in the Swiss Confederation on a working visit, today at the UN headquarters in Geneva participated at the conference of the UNCTAD Panel of Eminent Persons. Armen Sarkissian was elected the Chairman of the UNCTAD Panel of Eminent Persons. The Panel provides counselling on the vision regarding the next ten years for trade and development in the world, on critical and urgent economic challenges, and offers ideas and solutions to overcome them. Members of the Panel, who are heads of states and governments, prominent economists and experts, are invited personally by the Secretary-General of the UNCTAD. The sessions of the Panel are conveyed in a closed format, according to the Chatham House rules.   President Armen Sarkissian, who is in Switzerland on a working visit, met with the Secretary General of UNCTAD Mukhisa Kituyi at the UN Headquarters in Geneva. The Secretary General of the UNCTAD thanked the President of Armenia for accepting the offer and joining the discussion of the UNCTAD Panel of Eminent Persons.   On June 24, within the framework of his working visit to Geneva, Minister  Zohrab Mnatsakanyan met with Peter Maurer, President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). 23.03.2018 • UN Human Rights Council adopted by consensus the Resolution initiated by Armenia on the Prevention of Genocide

On March 23, at the 37th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, the Resolution on Prevention of Genocide, initiated by Armenia, was adopted by consensus. About six dozen countries representing all regional groups of the Human Rights Council joined Armenia and co-sponsored the resolution. The resolution will remain open for co-sponsoring for another two weeks.
