Delivered by Ms. Nelli Petrosyan, Human Rights Officer

Mr. President,

We thank the Working Group for its insightful report focused on systemic failures that violate the right of women and girls to live free from poverty.

We concur with the view that States should ground all laws and policies, especially in the economic and social arenas to eliminate poverty and achieve substantive gender equality. In this regard, Armenia’s efforts to improve its institutional and policy frameworks aimed at promoting gender equality was highlighted and welcomed by CEDAW last year in its concluding observations of the seventh periodic report of Armenia. Our Gender Policy Implementation Strategy for 2019-2023 sets the Government's priorities for equal participation of women in decision-making processes achieving gender equality in science, education and socio-economic spheres.

Moreover, Armenia continues to develop dedicated programs for the empowerment of women, such as the "National Accelerator of Women's Entrepreneurship" program (2022-2025), which aims to promote women as actors for change through targeted gender-sensitive activities.

Mr. President,

We are convinced that for ensuring the full enjoyment of an adequate standard of living, States should strengthen their efforts aimed at combating gender inequalities within political, economic, cultural and social systems.

I thank you.
