President,

Armenia thanks the Special Rapporteur for the report.

We believe that transparent, accessible pollution information portals empower States to safeguard public health, promote accountability, and facilitate effective participation in environmental decision-making.

President,

It is truly regrettable that Azerbaijan abuses the platform of the HRC to disseminate ungrounded allegations against Armenia, as once again was done during the current ID. With its abysmal record on human rights Azerbaijan would do a favor to everyone to remain silent. The Crude Accountability Report on Environmental and Social Impacts of Azerbaijan’s Oil and Gas Development documented the toxic effects of Azerbaijan’s 5 oil and gas production sites on the environment, health, well-being, and human rights. Azerbaijan was also excluded from the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative due to the attempts to conceal the environmental hazard that it had caused. Hence, Azerbaijan has far worse environmental problems much closer to home to worry about.

When it comes to Armenia then together with the EU, Armenia has developed Ecoportal, which provides a single access point for data and information on water, waste, air pollution and other areas of the environmental domain. We are keen to enhance our efforts to this end.

Thank you.
