HRC 57: Interactive dialogue with the Independent Expert on International Order

Armenia warmly congratulates the Independent Expert on taking up the mandate and thanks for the insightful report.

As we work to build a more democratic and equitable international order, Armenia believes that the path forward lies in bridging divides, strengthening regional cooperation, and harnessing the power of connectivity.

In this regard, the “Crossroads of Peace” initiative of the Government of Armenia embodies these principles. By revitalizing transport links – both north-south and east-west – across the South Caucasus, we aim to foster greater economic, cultural and political ties throughout the region. Crucially, this project is based on clear principles of state sovereignty, reciprocity, jurisdiction and equality.

Furthermore, the initiative holds significant potential to enhance human rights by promoting freedom of movement and facilitating people-to-people contacts across the region. Improved connectivity can further the objectives of the Alliance of Civilizations, thereby fostering intercultural dialogue and respect and can contribute to good neighborly relations, in line with the UN Charter.
