Delivered by Mrs. Anush Gharabaghtsyan, Attaché

President,

Armenia welcomes the Special Rapporteur and thanks for conceptualizing his vision and priorities in the report. Needless to say, that the climate change is a priority concern of a global nature that does not respect borders and spare any nation.

Armenia is deeply concerned about the escalating impact of the climate change. We have witnessed its extreme application just recently with unprecedented heavy flooding in northern regions of Armenia. It resulted in loss of life, displacement of residents, and damage to infrastructure.

While it served as a clear reminder of the immediate threats that we face due to climate change, it also sent strong signals for international cooperation and solidarity, since no nation alone can face these challenges. Armenia remains committed to working with the international community to secure a sustainable, equitable, and resilient future for all.

As a part of our commitment Armenia joined the Intergovernmental Declaration on Children, Youth and Climate Action to empower the children and youth as agents of change. Last month we have hosted a workshop on the implementation of its Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy, which outlines a pathway to a climate-resilient, net-zero future.

I thank you.
