Delivered by Anna Sargsyan, Second Secretary

President,

Armenia welcomes the Special Rapporteur and thanks for conceptualizing his vision and priorities in the report.

Needless to say, that the climate change is a priority concern of a global nature that has not spared any state, including my own. Children and young people are the most vulnerable targets to climate change. Thus, there is an immanent need to ensure comprehensive and universal climate change education and literacy for all.

Earlier this year, in collaboration with UNICEF Armenia became the 38th country and the first in the South Caucasus region to sign the Intergovernmental Declaration on Children, Youth, and Climate Action. We also expect young people to actively offer their own solutions regarding climate change.

Moreover, Armenia has approved the 2022-2026 Climate Change Adaptation Plan in the Sector of Water Resources. The Decision was developed also based on gender analysis of the sector and gender impact assessment and relevant provisions were incorporated into the documents along with the measures addressing the needs of women.

Armenia stands ready to further contribute to international efforts for empowering people of all ages with the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes to address climate change.

I thank you.
