President,

Armenia would like to express its appreciation to the High Commissioner for the report.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented global devastation. The development of vaccines has been a significant milestone in combating the health crisis. The global efforts in this regard have become one of the biggest collective endeavours in human history. Never before the humanity has had the same level of synergy to ensure that everyone has access to quality, safe, effective, and affordable vaccines.

Armenia has supported the international efforts to ensure equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines for all, including through the COVAX initiative and bilateral engagement with partner countries.

Armenia has made significant efforts to procure vaccines to protect our citizens. Moreover, the vaccines have also been made available to foreigners to increase global vaccine coverage.

Risk Communication and Community Engagement has been a key pillar of the vaccination campaign and awareness-raising activities undertaken by Armenia.

It is widely acknowledged that emergence of the new healthcare crisis is not a matter of if, but a matter of when. Hence, lessons learned and exchange of best practices is essential.

I thank you.
