Armenia participated as the main guest at the famous "Expovina" wine exhibition and festival in Zurich.

03 November, 2022

The famous annual “Expovina” wine exhibition and festival kicked off in Zurich, Switzerland on November 3. It is traditionally held on eleven ships docked on Lake Zurich.

Armenia participated in the 2022 "Expovina" as the main guest. In this capacity, Armenia occupied an entire ship, which bears the symbolic name of "Rosenstadt", which means the Pink City (this is how Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia is usually referred to) in German.

The "Armenian ship" exhibited a variety of products from sixteen Armenian wineries. On the very first day of the exhibition, the "Armenian ship" attracted great interest among visitors. Experts from Armenia, as well as representatives of the Armenian community in Switzerland, introduced to the flow of constantly arriving guests the peculiarities of Armenian wines and 6000-year-old winemaking traditions. At night, the “Rosenstadt” was illuminated with the colors of the Armenian flag.

The exhibition provided a unique opportunity to present Armenia and Armenian brands to the Swiss society and to the participants of the exhibition from abroad. The rich Armenian culture and history, the tourist attractions of our country were widely presented in brochures and posters. As the main guest Armenia and Armenian winemaking were widely covered in the official “Expovina” magazine. Armenia and its tricolor flag were everywhere on banners and leaflets placed in the city of Zurich and throughout the exhibition. References to Armenia and Armenian winemaking were made by Swiss newspapers and TV stations.

The representatives of the Armenian Embassy in Switzerland and the Switzerland-Armenia Chamber of Commerce delivered opening speeches at the inauguration ceremony together with the organizers of the exhibition and officials of the municipality of Zurich.

A number of Swiss-Armenian community organisations, the "Armenia" and "Philiposyan and Pilosyan" foundations of Geneva, as well as the "My Step" foundation from Armenia contributed to the organization of the Armenian exhibition at "Expovina". Organizational work was mainly carried out by the efforts of Swiss "Heres Wines" company and its energetic leader Sona Shaboyan, as well as the "Wine Works" company operating in Armenia.

"Expovina" exhibition will be open until November 17, 2022. It receives up to 80 thousand visitors annually. "Expovina" is one of the largest wine festivals not only in Switzerland, but also in Europe. It involves wine-producing countries and companies from all over the world. In previous years, the main guests of the exhibition were such countries known in the field of winemaking as France, Argentina, Chile and others.
