HRC 50th Session: Interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Migrants

Delivered by Ms. Armenuhi Tadevosyan, Attaché

Mr. President,

Armenia thanks the Special rapporteur for his continued engagement with the Council. Last several months were important for assessing the implementation of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration and mapping future priorities in the areas of migration and mobility. Despite the splash of aggressive militarism and conflict induced displacement, Armenia continued comprehensive reforms of migration management and presented several reports on the implementation of GCM. The migration policy and practice in Armenia are well integrated and aligned to the objectives of the GCM and are more focused on evidence-based, needs-based and gender sensitive approach.

Armenia has expanded and diversified availability of pathways for safe, orderly and regular migration, addressing emergency management of migration, reducing human rights vulnerabilities, ensuring migrants’ rights to access basic services, including health, education, labour and social support without discrimination.

The Government Program of Primary Assistance for Reintegration of Nationals Returning to the Republic of Armenia is developed on the basis of the assessment of vulnerability of beneficiaries such as unaccompanied minors and those with disabilities. It is included in the Repository of best practices of IOM.

I thank you.
