Delivered by Ms. Emma Harutyunyan, Third Secretary

Mr. President,

We agree with the Special Rapporteur that realizing the right of everyone to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health must remain a priority among state policies. We firmly believe that addressing violence, especially among the conflict-affected populations, should be based on health equity and non-discrimination. No one should be left behind and the UN should get humanitarian access to all. At the same time, countering all forms of violence requires a holistic and cross-sectoral approach and coordination between law enforcement, health and social protection systems, as well as Civil society.

We are happy to note that one of the women-led social-entrepreneurship projects in Armenia resulted in the development of the "Safe you" app, a free, unanimous, and secured tool for reporting on gender based and domestic violence. It has already proved to have a life-saving effect and even helped bring perpetrators to justice.

Mr. President,

In March 2022 Armenia established Mental Health Coalition, with the participation of over 40 representatives of government agencies, UN, civil society organizations, and associations. The coalition's primary goal is to join the efforts toward finding the best possible solutions to the institutional, legislative and financial gaps in providing comprehensive psychological and psychiatric services.

I thank you.
