The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Switzerland congratulates upon the occasion of the Republic Day

May 28, 1918 bears special symbolism in the millennial history of the Armenian people. About five hundred years after the loss of statehood, the restoration of independence was a rampant event that predetermined the entire course of our Homeland's history, laying the foundations for the present day independent and free state. It was a vivid demonstration of the freedom-loving spirit of the Armenian people, which had endured the horrors of genocide, however, managed to consolidate, to emerge victorious from the heroic battles of Sardarapat, Bash Aparan and Gharakilisa, and to revive under the auspices of the tricolor flag of the independent Republic of Armenia.

The attached photo demonstrates Armenia's application for the membership in the League of Nations, which was submitted a hundred years ago under the signature of Avetis Aharonyan. The original document is kept in the archives of the UN Office in Geneva.
